MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) — Australians have invaded Mobile! About 650 of them arrived in the Port City Monday morning aboard the cruise ship Azamara Quest, using Mobile as a port of call.

The one day stop is part of a 30-day cruise that began in Canada and will continue on to New Orleans Monday afternoon.

Local 15's Darwin Singleton was at the Alabama Cruise Terminal as the Azamara Quest arrived. The passengers he spoke with were absolutely delighted with the welcome they received, saying this simply doesn't happen at other ports of call.

There were Azalea Trail Maids, crewmates from Battleship Alabama, tour guides, even Mayor Sandy Stimpson. Just as important as the money the travelers will spend in our city is the image they will take home with them. They fanned out to places like the Battleship, Bellingrath Gardens, the Carnival Museum, and Duck Boat tours.
